
I was fortunate to see a Bronzed Cowbird for the first time this year. Its red eye and bluish-black wings are quite different from its Brown-Headed Cowbird counterpart. Another special thanks to Cody Conway for putting me onto these birds just across the LA border in TX.

Its red eye is quite different looking when you are conditioned to see an eye of a different color.

At times these guys erect their neck feathers into a sort of 'King Tut' display. If you look closely you can see a touch of bronzed coloration on his back.
These are some cool guys.
